What Happens if my Possessions are Damaged in Transit whilst I'm Moving Home in Nottingham?

What should I do if my Possessions are Damaged whilst in Transit?

Well, you've either come across my blog for one of two reasons...

1, You are looking for information about this, just in case your property does get damaged in transit.
2, Your property has already been damaged in transit.

If one or more items have been damaged whilst in transit, through no fault of your own, this is why it's important to find a Removals Firm that offers GIT Insurance (GIT Goods in transit).
Most reputable removal firms will have this and will be willing to offer a professional solution.
As you're probably aware, claiming from insurance companies can take quite some time, and in some cases, you do not get the outcome that you were expecting. To make sure that your goods are covered by GIT, follow these steps to help you get the outcome you'd want in such a crisis.

Only use Removal Companies that offer full (GIT ) goods in transit insurance.
Always check that their policy is valid, some even upload their insurance certificate to their website.
Check the amount of cover offered, against the cost of your property.
Some GIT goods in transit insurance policies will only accept claims if your property is packed safely, securely and professionally. So be sure to abide by this rule at all times.

If at all possible, it's a good idea to have either yourself or a friend checking every piece one by one whilst being placed in the new house.  If you find damage, it's always better to take photos immediately.

If you are unfortunate enough that some of your property has already been damaged in transit.
The first thing you must do is inform the company itself (the same day), also log down your call. Next, you should take a photograph and detail the damage on paper, if the damage is to a piece of furniture that you're not really worried about, if you ask, maybe the removal company will just offer you a small reduction on the cost of your removal. This would save time and money for both parties.

It's very important that you check all of your property for any damage, on the same day.
